Mrs. Ernestine Hayes passed away in Conyers, GA on Sunday, May 21, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was the only child born to Lucille Redman Cox and Roy Cox on February 26, 1928. Ernestine devoted her life to her husband and children, and she will be missed so very much.
Ernestine is survived by her husband, Wade Hayes Sr., a daughter, Dr. Cyndy K. Hayes of Glassboro, NJ; a son, Wade Hayes Jr. and his wife Joanne of Atlanta, GA; grandsons, Jason Savage and his wife Melanie of Boston, MA, Heath Hayes of Salisbury, NC, Devin K. Hayes and his wife Alicia of Philadelphia, PA, Tyler Hayes of Atlanta, Ethan Hayes of Atlanta, Brandon K. Hayes of Glassboro, NJ; granddaughter, Marni K. Hayes of New York City; four great-grand-daughters, Fiona, Darla, and Marlana Savage of Boston, MA, and Scarlett Hayes of Salisbury, NC; her sister, Betty Stegall of Lancaster, SC; and brother-in-law, Reverend V. Ray Robinson of Fort Lawn, SC.
Ernestine was pre-deceased (besides her parents) by a wonderful daughter, Teresa Savage Whipple; a brother, Roy Cox, Jr.; sisters, Elizabeth Robinson and Catherine Barnes; and stepmothers, Hazel Carter Cox and Mary Doster Cox.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 3 p.m. at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC, 29720. A private entombment will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive guests from 2:00-3:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Ernestines grandson, Brandon, to Autism Wellbeing, 327 Heritage Loop, Glassboro, NJ 08028.
