LANCASTER, SC :::::::::: Mr. Ernest Anthony Cancilla, age 92, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009. He was born May 28, 1917 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of the late Mariano Cancilla and Angela Cancilla and was the husband of the late Mary Louise Vaughn Cancilla. Mr. Cancilla was a retired optician, he moved to Lancaster in July 1977, was a member of Saint Catherine Catholic Church, and served our great country in the United States Army as a Captain during World War II. Mr. Cancilla is survived by his daughter, Debra Restrepo and her husband Jaime of Boca Raton, Florida, a brother, Dr. Michael Cancilla and a sister, Domenica "Mayme" Carchedi both of Pittsfield, Massachuetts.Mr. Cancilla was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Joseph Cancilla, Vincent Cancilla, Jack Cancilla, Salvatore Cancilla, Anthony Cancilla, and Natale Cancilla and a sister, Angela Cancilla.The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Cancilla will be 11:00 am, Monday morning, July 27, 2009 at Saint Catherine Catholic Church by Father David Runnion with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mr. Cancilla will receive friends from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Sunday afternoon, July 26, 2009 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggest memorials be made to Lancaster County Council on Aging, Alzheimer's Department, PO Box 1296, Lancaster, SC 29721 or the American Heart Association, Tribute Processing Center, PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
