LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Erika Marie Pfeil Self, age 82, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at MUSC- Charleston. She was born August 24, 1939, in Bludau, Germany, a daughter of the late Maria Elizabeth Aust Pfeil and the late Otto Albert Pfeil. Mrs. Self had a servant's heart, she loved helping and doing for others. She enjoyed her lunches with The Missfits group and listening to gospel music. Mrs. Self was a member of Truth Independent Baptist Church in Chester. She loved her family, church family, and friends. Mrs. Self had a special love for her five grandchildren.

Mrs. Self is survived by two sons, Brad Self (Deidre), Kevin Self (Sherry); five grandchildren, Eric Self, Shelby Self, Mackenzie Self, Brooke Self, and Hunter Self; and her brother, Egon Pfeil (Connie).

Mrs. Self was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Eugene Richard Self; and her parents, Maria and Otto Pfeil.

The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Mrs. Self will be 2:00 pm Monday, December 6, 2021, at Lancaster Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Gerald Eaves and Rev. Chris Ellis.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Lancaster Children's Home, 1240 Children Avenue Lancaster, SC 29720.
