HEATH SPRINGS, SC :::::::::::Emily Elizabeth Bruce, age 67, died Saturday, April 13, 2013 at CMC-Pineville. She was born January 11, 1946 in Monroe, NC, the daughter of Janie Stacks Bruce and the late James Baldwin Bruce. Emily received her BA and Masters Degrees from Winthrop University and her Doctorate Degree from the University of South Carolina. She retired from the Lancaster County School District after 33 years of teaching. She was an active and lifelong member of Heath Springs Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, served as church hostess and youth director.

Emily is survived by her mother, Janie Stacks Bruce of Heath Springs, and many close aunts and cousins.

Emily was preceded in death by her father, James Baldwin Bruce and a brother, James B. Bruce, Jr.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Emily will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Heath Springs Baptist Church by Rev. Frankie Melton, Rev. Gary Harris and Rev. Paul Smith. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery.

Emily's family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall and suggests memorials be made to Heath Springs Baptist Church, PO Box 400, Heath Springs, SC 29058.
