LANCASTER, SC :::::::::::Mrs. Elizabeth Roof Lucas, age 91, died Wednesday, December 07, 2011 at Lancaster Convalescent Center where she was a resident. She was born June 16, 1920 in Winnsboro, SC, the daughter of the late Floyd Andrew Roof, Sr. and Susie Bell Black Roof and was the wife of the late Hazel "Red" Lucas. Mrs. Lucas retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Crestview Baptist Church. Mrs. Lucas is survived by 4 sons, Robert Lucas and his wife Linda, Hazel Lucas and his wife Betty, Joe Lucas, and Carl Lucas and his wife Joann all of Lancaster, 3 daughters, Nancy "Sis" Harmon and her husband Edgar of Lancaster, Becky Lyles and her husband Clyde of Lancaster and Mary Lea Lipscomb and her husband Ed of Fort Lawn, a brother, Floyd Andrew Ruth, Jr. of Houston, TX, 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Lucas was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lucas, 2 brothers, John H. Ruth and James W. Ruth, and 3 sisters, Doris West, Evelyn Baucom and Mildred Byars.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Lucas will be 1:00 pm Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Crestview Baptist Church by Rev. Scott Robinson and Rev. Dr. Michael Lewis. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mrs. Lucas will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:00 pm Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the church and suggests memorials to Lancaster County Council on Aging, Alzheimer's Dept.
