INDIAN LAND, SC~ Mrs. Elizabeth Mary Vreeland Koning, age 86, passed away Monday, April 27, 2020 at her home in Indian Land, SC.  She was born June 27, 1933 in Paterson, NJ, the daughter of the late Arthur Vreeland and Elizabeth Barr Vreeland. Mrs. Koning loved the beach, reading, going on walks and playing with her grandchildren.  She was a Den mother for the Saint Gerard cub scouts in Paterson, NJ. Mrs. Koning was of the Roman Catholic faith.

Mrs. Koning was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Henry Koning; a daughter, Patty Skillen; her parents; and two sisters, Carol Hunt and Arthea Gill.

Mrs. Koning is survived by a daughter, Mary Beth Meyer of SC; two sons, Joseph Koning (Dawn) and Arthur Koning (Nancy), all of NJ; a son-in-law, Bill Skillen; seven grandchildren, Paul of FL, Beth of SC, Kimberly of NJ, Ryan of NJ, Julia of NJ, Joseph III of NJ and David of NJ ; eight great grandchildren, Sage, Lizzie, Domenic, Sophia, Joey, Christina, Sara, and James; two sisters, Jane Salmanowitz and Mary Ann Dowling, both of NJ; and twenty-four nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Koning at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
