COLUMBIA, SC ~ Mrs. Elaine DeWeese McWaters, age 75, died Sunday, November 19, 2017 at her home. She was born August 6, 1942 in Asheville, NC, the daughter of the late Carmel DeWeese and Bernice Banks Mackey and was the wife of the late James Jimmy Claude McWaters. Mrs. McWaters loved the University of South Carolina Gamecocks, cooking, cooking shows and collecting recipes. She loved her dog, Jamie, with all her heart. Mrs. McWaters was a member of First Baptist Church in Lancaster.

Mrs. McWaters is survived by three sons, Jim C. McWaters and his wife, Shannon of Columbia, SC, Brian W. McWaters of Lancaster and Scott M. McWaters of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; six grandchildren, Brandon McWaters, Drew McWaters, Sarah McWaters, Delaney McWaters, Millie McWaters and Kevin KJ Miller; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Crolley of Lancaster and Mary Anne Wade of Lexington, SC.

Mrs. McWaters was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother-in-law, Bobby McWaters.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. McWaters will be 3:00 PM Sunday, November 26, 2017 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Michael Anderson. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 2:00 3:00 pm, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Amedisys Hospice, 1900 Sunset Blvd., Ste 103, West Columbia, SC 29169.

The family would like to say a very special thank you to Elizabeth Register, a hospice nurse that went over and above to tend to Mrs. McWaters.
