IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edwin Perego,
Jr.
May 20, 1948 – October 27, 2020
FORT MILL, SC ~ It is with great sadness the family of Edwin "Ed " Charles Perego, Jr.,age 72, announces his early and sudden passing on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 in Charlotte, NC. Ed lived and worked most of his life in the beautiful Finger Lakes area of Canandaigua, NY until he retired after 40 years in the insurance business. He graduated high school from Allendale Columbia and college from Old Dominion University. He proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Raleigh.
Ed was happily married for almost 50 years to his high school soulmate, Sharon Lobdell Perego. They have a son, Benjamin Perego (Shweta), and daughter, Katherine Hebding (Jeremiah), and six wonderful young grandchildren.
During Ed's working years, he was also very active in local politics and service organizations such as, Kiwanis, Merrill Hose Company, Canandaigua Lake Pure Waters, and he sat on many different boards. Ed was a third generation Perego and well known and liked in his community.
After retiring, Ed and Sharon moved to South Carolina for sunshine and warmth. Their new Del Webb community, several veteran's groups, and Calvary Church of Charlotte membership opened up a whole new wonderful group of friendships which were unfortunately cut short after only five years of southern living.
Ed truly loved people and easily made new friends. He especially thrived in the company of his family. He dearly loved being a grandfather to Nikhil Perego and five little Hebding's, Esther, Paul, Luke, Caleb, and Jubilee. He loved and left behind many nieces and nephews, and one sister, Ann Moorman (Denny) who lives in Louisville, KY. He was predeceased by two sisters, Jane Olash (Albert) of Louisville, KY and Kay McGhee (James) of Rochester, NY.
Ed will also be sorely missed by his Sun City Carolina Lakes Horseshoe Club, Cribbage Club, Bocce Club, many wonderful neighbors, veteran friends, old friends, and his church friends.
Ed's life and legacy to his children and friends was to love the Lord with all of your heart, soul, strength and mind and love thy neighbor as yourself (Luke 10:27). Ed's hardware will be interred at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC. But his software is now eternally present with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Perego will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Calvary Church, 5801 Pineville-Matthews Rd., Charlotte, NC 28226. Ed's favorite charities are his church and the Salvation Army.
