LANCASTER, SC:::::::::: Mr. Edward Cecil Powers, Jr., age 61, died Thursday, February 23, 2017. He was born November 1, 1955 in Lancaster, a son of the late Edward Cecil Powers, Sr. and Pauline Merritt Powers and was the husband of Deborah Helms Powers. Mr. Powers was employed with Consolidated Metco, Inc. in Monroe, NC. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, spending time at the beach and the mountains and loved his dog, Wiggles.

Mr. Powers is survived by his wife, Deborah Helms Powers; a son, Joseph Michael Balkcum; two daughters, Jennifer Nicole Miller and her husband Eric and Vanessa Denise Powers all of Lancaster; a stepson, Andrew Blake Catoe of Pageland; a step daughter, Samantha Nicole Catoe; a brother, Carson Powers and his wife Rhonda of Lancaster; two sisters, Frances Powers Reid also of Lancaster and Carolyn Powers Wooley and her husband Greg of Yuma, TN; three grandchildren, Trey Lanier Hyatt, Cameron Michael Miller and Lawson Daniel Lowery; and three step grandchildren, Tristian Corey Miller, Alley Makensie Gardner and Aria Bay Whitley.

Mr. Powers was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jeffery Paul Hoppy Powers.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Powers will be 2:00 pm Sunday, February 26, 2017 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Tommy Moser with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 pm Saturday evening, February 25, 2017 at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
