LANCASTER, SC :::::::: Mr. Edward Tracy Denton, age 90, died June 4, 2012 at Agape Senior Hospice in Rock Hill. He was born August 24, 1921 in Camden, SC the son of the late Arthur Cicero Denton and Annie Ogburn Denton and was the husband of the late Rebecca "Becky" Ray Denton. Mr. Denton was manager and operator of Brooklyn Furniture Company until it was destroyed by fire in 1974, was a retired Maintenance Supervisor and Security Guard for Springs Industries and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Denton also served our great country in the 27th Infantry of the US Army during World War II. Based in Hawaii, he served in Saipan, Okinawa, South Pacific Islands, and then ended his service in Japan. Mr. Denton is survived by 3 sons, Richard Denton and wife Donna, Michael Denton and wife Cynthia, and Donald Denton all of Lancaster, a daughter, Barbara D. Benton and husband Freddie of Lancaster, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, a step-granddaughter, and a step great grandson.Mr. Denton was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Macie D. Payne and Clara D. Wallace.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Denton will be 3:00 pm Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Covenant Baptist Church by Rev. Dr. Bert Welch. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The Family of Mr. Denton will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, Thursday, June 7, 2012 in the fellowship hall and at other time at the home. The family suggests memorials to Agape Senior Hospice, 159 Sedgewood Dr., Rock Hill, SC 29730, or Veterans Administration or Covenant Baptist Church.
