LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Edria Mae Grier Payne, age 80, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at Atrium Health Main.  She was born April 27, 1938 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Grier and Willie Elizabeth Stroud Grier and the wife of the late Eugene Payne.  Mrs. Payne enjoyed going out to eat and shopping.  She loved talking to people and never met a stranger.  She had a large extended family whom she loved, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Mrs. Payne was a member of Second Baptist Church in Lancaster.

Mrs. Payne is survived by a son, Bryan Payne, Sr.; two daughters, Cheryl Welsh (Tommy) and Belinda Payne; five grandchildren, Jennifer Reese, Bryan Payne, Jr., Matthew Payne, Kristin Deese, and Amber Bailey; nine great grandchildren, Natalee Reese, Lucas Reese, Jace Hegler, Emily Payne, Alexi McCorkle, Cadence Bonnell, Skyler Deese, Brayden Deese, and Xavien Bailey ; five brothers, Sonny Grier, Bill Grier (Brenda), Thomas "T.R." Grier (Janice), Wesley Grier (Rosalind), and Marshall Grier (Jenifer); four sisters, Jettie Caskey, Barbara Hefley (James), Sandra Carnes, and Susan Maciariello (Bob); a very special cousin, Maxine Roof; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Eugene Payne; her parents; and a sister, Bonnie Thompson.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Payne will be 3:00 pm Monday, March 11, 2019 at Second Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Brian Saxon, Rev. Larry Helm, and Rev. Dean Casey.  Burial will follow at Kershaw cemetery.
