LANCASTER, SC::::::::: Mr. Edgar Lathan Robinson, Jr., age 92, died Friday, December 2, 2011 at his home. He was born March 31, 1919 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Edgar Lathan Robinson, Sr. and Cora Elizabeth Walkup Robinson and was the beloved husband of Lillian Faulkenberry Robinson. Mr. Robinson retired from Springs Industries and was a life long member of Shiloh ARP Church where he served as Sunday School Treasurer, Deacon, Elder and Choir Member. Mr. Robinson also served our great county in the United States Army where he was a member of the "Greatest Generation" serving in the 160th Field Artillery Battalion from June 6, 1941 - September 1, 1945. As a Staff Sergeant in the Headquarters Battery 116 he traversed through Sicily, Italy and France during the last 2 years of World War II. Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lillian F. Robinson of the home, a daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" R. Satterfield and her husband Tom of Greenville, 3 brothers, Sam W. Robinson, Grady P. Robinson, and Dan M. Robinson all of Lancaster, 2 granddaughters, Lucinda Rivera and her husband Bruce and Dawn Mahoney and her husband Mike and a great granddaughter, Reagan Mahoney. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Robinson will be 2:00 pm, Monday, December 5, 2011 by Rev. Mark Miller at Shiloh ARP Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Family of Mr. Robinson will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggests memorial contributions to Shiloh ARP Church, Building Fund, 346 Shiloh Unity Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
