Edelgard
Egeland
Mar 19, 1931 — Aug 12, 2026
Fort Mill, SC — On August 12, 2026, Maria Edelgard Koerner Egeland peacefully went home to be with her Lord at the age of 95 in Sun City Fort Mill, South Carolina.
Edelgard was born in Germany on March 19, 1931. She fell in love with George Scott Egeland, an American serviceman and World War II era veteran, and immigrated with him to the United States in 1953. They were married in Oberelchingen, Germany, and their love endured throughout their lives.
Edelgard had a passion for the stock market and became a successful investor. She and George retired early, at the age of 50, and enjoyed traveling throughout the southern United States. They first made their home in Quaker Hill, Connecticut, and later lived in Livingston, Texas; Benson, Arizona; and Fort Mill, South Carolina.
She was the last surviving member of the six Koerner sisters. She leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews in the United States and Germany. She loved dogs... all her life!
Edelgard’s remains will be inurned beside those of her beloved late husband, (SGT) George S. Egeland, a World War II era veteran, at the Southern Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Both George & Edelgard were devout Catholics and generous souls.
