INDIAN LAND, SC :::::::::: Duane E. Meek, age 74, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at his home in Sun City. He was born June 10, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of the late Clarence Meek and Olive Lisby Meek and was the husband of Paula Schmidt Meek. He was a lifelong electrician for IBEW #481 and retired from Long Electric after 18 years. He was very active in politics in Indianapolis, was a member of the Sertoma Club of Beach Grove, Indiana, served on the Warren Township School Board Screening committees, was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, and was a devout Christian. Mr. Meek is survived by his wife, Paula Schmidt Meek of Indian Land, a daughter, Julie Meek Perri and her husband Ron of Northville, MI, 2 sons, Christopher Osburn and his wife Jane of Raleigh, NC and Dan Meek and his wife Mathilde of Tampa, FL, 4 grandchildren, Tara Boling, Kyle Boling, Natalie Perri, and Jonah Osburn, and 2 brothers, Ronald Meek of Rossville, IN and Richard Meek of Marcellus, IN.Mr. Meek was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Osburn and a sister, Pat Lynch.The Celebration of Life Graveside Funeral Service for Mr. Meek will be 3:00 pm Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Legacy Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis, Indiana.
