LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Douglas "Doug" Hinson, age 73, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024 at MUSC-Columbia. He was born July 26, 1951 in Lancaster, SC, a son of the late Erskin Hinson, Sr. and the late Mattie B. Braswell Hinson and was the loving husband of Angela "Angie" Darlene Fudge Hinson. Doug retired from Lancaster & Chester Railway as an inspector for over 28 years.  Doug was an outdoorsman; he enjoyed cutting grass and messing with his chickens. He was an avid Elvis Presley and Carolina Gamecock fan. Doug loved his family, eating ice-cream, conversating "chew a rag", and his 1972 Nova.

Doug is survived by his wife, Angie Hinson; his two sons, Douglas Ryan Hinson, and Christopher "Cody" Hinson; his daughter, Tara Nicole Hinson; two stepdaughters, Kendra Anthony (Torre), and Miranda Dillon; 14 grandchildren, Troy Carter, Eric Carter, Hailey Carter, Lydia Hinson, Brynlee Hinson, Chancellor Hinson, Natalie Steele, Delainey Hinson, Colton Hinson, Akira Anthony, Deadric Anthony, Zane Anthony, Damien Cobb, and Noah Cobb; four great grandchildren; three brothers, his twin, Donald Hinson (Betty), Erskin Hinson, Jr., and James Luther "Jimmy" Hinson (Sherry); his sister, Barbara Ann Williams; and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Kesha Carter, and Bridget Caroline Hinson; his parents, Erskin and Mattie Hinson; and two sisters, Nova Jo Morrow, and Linda Williams.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Doug will be 11:00 am Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Robbie Taylor. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
