LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Olin Douglas "Doug" Broughton, age 87, passed away Monday, November 8, 2021 at his home. He was born September 20, 1934, in Kershaw, SC, a son of the late Leslie William Broughton Sr. and Ethel Gay Broughton and was the husband of Betty Pauline "Polly" Robinson Broughton.  Mr. Broughton retired after 35 years at Bowater.  He was a hardworker, who enjoyed farming, gardening, working on cars, and traveling.  Mr. Broughton proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Mason with the Jackson Lodge 53.  He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Broughton is survived by his wife of 66 years, Polly Broughton; his son, Mark Broughton (Sandy Hammond); two grandchildren, Sunni "Niki" Gantt (Jason), Jared Broughton; two great grandchildren, Tyler Gantt, and Eden Louise Gantt; a brother, Michael Broughton (Doris); and a sister, Earlene Horton (Jack).

Mr. Broughton was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leslie William "L.W." Broughton Jr.; a sister, Esterlene Lee; and brother-in-law, Eddie Lee.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Broughton will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Crestview Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Scott Robinson and Rev. Bobby Joyner.  Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
