LANCASTER, SC – Mr. William Douglas "Doug" Blackmon, age 80, passed away, Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

Born August 11, 1944 in Lancaster, SC. He was the son of the late William Carl Blackmon and the late Peggy Gardner Blackmon Bennett. He was the loving husband of Deborah "Debbie" Moore Blackmon.

Doug's lifelong journey was marked by a deep commitment to both his family and his work. He pursued his academic passions at Clemson University followed by further studies at York Technical College. These experiences laid the foundation for a remarkable 36-year career at Springs Industries, where he made significant contributions to the company and touched the lives of many colleagues.

Doug will always be remembered for his "Legendary" jokes, Clemson and Giants football, reading books, playing cards, and being the go-to computer expert.

Above all, family was the center of his life. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Deborah "Debbie" Moore Blackmon; his daughter, Tara Blackmon; his son, Brent Blackmon (Kimberly Powers); his sister, Judy Robinson; six grandchildren, Krista Larrimore (Blake), Blade Blackmon (Megan), Gavin Blackmon, Landon Blackmon, Haven Chavis, and Vada Blackmon; two great-grandchildren, Jaylin Larrimore, and Hunter Larrimore; and many loving nieces, nephews, and close relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Carl Blackmon and Peggy Gardner Blackmon Bennett; his two sisters, Carlene Blackmon McCall (Joe), and Mary Ellen Blackmon Hendrix; and his brother-in-law, William "Sonny" Robinson.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 3:30pm Saturday, March 1, 2025 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm – 3:30pm, one and half hours prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home.
