LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Dottie "Dot" Elaine Steele Rowell, age 94, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023 at her home. She was born June 17, 1929 in Chesterfield, SC, a daughter of the late Baxter Alexander Steele and the late Eunice Belle Jennings Steele and was the wife of the late Jack Robert Rowell. Mrs. Rowell was a seamstress at Grace Finishing for over 25 years where she later retired. She was an expert seamstress and enjoyed cross-stitch. She designed and sewed beautiful original outfits and costumes for her daughter throughout her life. She had a natural talent for drawing and enjoyed reading and writing poetry. She was a phenomenal cook and baker. As a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church, she formerly taught children's Sunday School and was a member of the Women's Circle. In the 90's, Mrs. Rowell and her husband were members of the Lancaster Senior Citizens Club. In recent years, she enjoyed watching TV and listening to music with her daughter and their beloved dog, Pandi.

Mrs. Rowell is survived by her daughter who was her long-time caregiver, Robin Elaine Rowell.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jack Robert Rowell; her son, Ronald "Ronnie" Dean Rowell; her parents, Baxter and Eunice Steele; and six siblings, Ney Baxter Steele, William Caldwell Steele, Jesse C. Steele, Lewis Quay Steele, Roddy Wayne Steele, and Alma Steele Sims.

The Celebration of Life for Mrs. Rowell will be held at a later date.
