LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Allen Sims, age 91, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023.  She was born September 23, 1931, in Rutherford County, NC, a daughter of the late Worth Allen and Annabelle Lavender Allen and was the wife of the late Ira "Smokey" J. Sims.  Mrs. Sims retired from Springs Industries and after retirement, she volunteered at Springs Memorial Hospital.  She had a servant's heart and loved making and delivering meals to others in the community.  Mrs. Sims enjoyed visiting friends, reading, singing, watching Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune.  Her children and grandchildren brought her so much joy.  She had a love for others that's hard to find.  Mrs. Sims was a member of Fork Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Sims is survived by a daughter, Janice "Tootie" Cole (Van); a son, Stephen "Steve" Allen Sims (Rose) of Westville; a sister, Ann Catoe; three grandchildren, Sonya Sims Payne (Eddy), Casey McMackin, and Ashley McMackin; and four great grandchildren, Jacob Sims (Lexe), Christopher Sims (Stephanie), Jonathan Sims (Greer) and Emma Sims (Landen); a great great-grandson, Knox Sims; and special family of Margaret and James Starnes.

Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Timothy "Punkin" Sims; grandson. Stephen Sims, Jr.; four sisters, Dora Allen Sullivan, Mary Allen Morgan, Sue Allen, and Helen Allen Faulkenberry; and her stepmother, Ethel Allen.

Mrs. Sims will be open for viewing from 2:00-3:00 pm in the sanctuary prior to her service. The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Sims will be 3:00 pm September 24, 2023, at Fork Hill Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Dale Walters.  The family will receive friends in the sanctuary immediately following the burial.
