LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Dorothy Steele Cauthen, age 97, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024. She was born November 29, 1926, daughter of the late Hiram Theodore Steele and Christine Taylor Steele and was the wife of the late Floyd Lee Cauthen. Mrs. Cauthen enjoyed working in her yard, bird watching, playing piano and spending time with her family. She was a member of Lynnwood United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and volunteered with The Bridge.

Mrs. Cauthen is survived by two sons, Michael E. Cauthen (Susan) and Jerry L. Cauthen; a daughter, Sylvia C. Marshall (Terry); five grandchildren, Stacie Marshall, Bridget Martin (Danny), Lauren L. Cauthen, Caroline Pappas (Chris), and Nicholas Cauthen (Keri); six great grandchildren, Ragan, Kassie, Alex, Michal Claire, Kennedy, and Carter, and one on the way; and two great great grandchildren, Jaxx and Baylon, and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ben Steele and Robby Steele; and a sister, Elinor Robinson.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Cauthen will be 2:00 pm Friday, June 7, 2024, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Danny Martin and Rev. Jonathan Williams. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace-Lynnwood United Methodist Church, The Bridge, PO Box 418, Lancaster, SC 29721.
