SENECA, SC ~ Mrs. Doris Knight Wilson, age 93, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024. She was born August 22, 1931, in Harmony, NC, a daughter of the late John Vertis Knight and the late Flonnie Mae Sistare Knight.  She was the wife of the late, Thomas "Tommy" Poovey Wilson, Jr. Mrs. Wilson was a giver and a thoughtful southern belle.  She loved baking and cooking for others and known to many as "The Cake Lady".  Mrs. Wilson also enjoyed gardening, taking care of her property, an even bush hogging, even into her 70's.  She often quoted, "Idle hands are a tool for the devil" as she was always busy and had projects to do. Faith was of most importance to Mrs. Wilson. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her daughter, Carman Lingle (Harry Harritos) of Clemson, SC; a granddaughter, Caitlin Lingle; four great grandchildren, Garrett Ellis, Yates Bradley, Mazie Bradley, and Brook Taylor; a great-great grandson, Wyatt Carnes; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Ballard (Dave); a niece, Sylvia Hough; and a large extended family.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Wilson, Jr; two sons, Lawrence Allen Robinson, and Michael Bernard Robinson killed in Vietnam in 1970; two grandsons, Chris Robinson, and Mickey Robinson; her parents; three brothers, Pete Knight, J.L. Knight, H.N "Cobb" Knight; and three sisters, Johnnie Carnes, Sybil Carnes, and Eloise Cunningham.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mrs. Wilson will be 11:00 am Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Bethlehem Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Patrick Blackmon and Caitlin Lingle. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm, Friday, October 11, 2024, at Burgess Funeral Home and following the burial at Mrs. Wilson's daughter-in-law's home, Ruth Ballard.
