LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::: Mrs. Doris Ruth West, age 81, of 3374 JB Denton Road, died Thursday morning, September 4, 2008 at her home. She was born October 31, 1926 in Chester, SC, the daughter of the late Floyd A. Ruth, Sr. and Susie Bell Black Ruth and was the wife of the late Johnnie Lenson West, Sr. Mrs. West was a homemaker, a member and Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star #146 and of the Baptist Faith.Mrs. West was survived by a son, Johnnie L. West, Jr. and his wife Kathy, 3 daughters, Pat W. Vick and her husband Ken, Susie W. Jenkins and her husband Billy, and Carol W. Gainer and her husband David all of Lancaster, 2 brothers, Floyd A. Ruth, Jr. of Houston, TX and Ronnie Ruth of York, SC, 2 sisters, Elizabeth Lucas and Evelyn Balkcum both of Lancaster, 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.Mrs. West was preceded in death by a son, Luther Roach, 2 brothers, Johnnie Roof and James Roof, a sister, Mildred Byars, a grandson, Kenneth E. Scott and a great-great Cameron Roberts. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. West will be 2:00 pm Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Zion United Methodist Church by Rev. Jeff Williams and Rev. Fred Davis with burial to follow in the church cemetery.The Family of Mrs. West will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday evening, September 5, 2008 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Lancaster, 902 W.
