LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Doris Hallman Usher - Hudson, age 93, passed away May 20, 2026. She was born August 15, 1932, in Lancaster, SC, a daughter of the late Grady Edward Hallman and the late Wilma Holden Hallman.

Doris was a lifelong active member of St. Luke Methodist Church of Lancaster. She was always involved with the children of the community and church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Heath Springs.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and dear friend to many. She was known for her love and care for children. Doris loved her church and her community and it was evident in all she did. Doris worked at Elgin Child Care for numerous years. She loved and respected all the people she worked with and they loved her. Together they made a magnificent team caring for children.

Doris was first married to Bunyan Edward Usher Jr. for 51 years before his passing in 1999. She later married Theron Eugene Hudson and they were married 13 years before his passing.

Doris is survived by her sons Rev. Dr. Eddie Usher (Peggy), Randy Usher (Freda), Johnny Usher (Brenda), Terry Usher (Lynn) all of Lancaster; and a daughter in law, Donna Usher of Columbia and a sister Linda H. Adams, of Lancaster. Doris is also survived by step-children Richard Hudson (Deborah), Robert "Bobby" Hudson (Rose Ann), Avis Titus (Randle) all of Lancaster.

She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and one on the way; and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bunyan Edward Usher Jr. and Theron Eugene Hudson, a son, Darryl K. Usher, a sister, Virginia H. Bailey, grandson Gregory Joe Flynn, and great-grandchild Lucas James Flynn.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Doris will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 22, 2026, at St. Luke Methodist Church of Lancaster. Burial will follow in the St. Luke Methodist Church of Lancaster Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am, one hour prior to the service, in the Church Sanctuary.

The family wants to express our heartfelt thanks for all the skilled and compassionate care given to our mom. Words alone could never express our thanks to the staff of Agape Care of South Carolina.

We will always remember Lynzie, Laura, Addison, Jacklin, Jenna, Vivian, Connie, and Allison Cunningham as being a part of our extended family.
