LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Doris Belk Barr, age 85, passed away Friday, January 31, 2020 at Atrium Health-Main.  She was born August 16, 1934 in Lancaster, SC, a daughter of the late Henry Bascum Belk and Hattie Bell Plyler Belk.  She was the wife of Steve Harrison Barr.  Mrs. Barr enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing and crocheting.  She loved birds and enjoyed watching them, especially hummingbirds.  Mrs. Barr was a member for 61 years of New Cut Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Barr is survived by her husband of 61 years, Steve Barr; two nephews, Jackie Sims (Pam) and Gary H. Peagler; a niece, Janet Pate; and many great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Barr was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marcia B. Hoffman; and a brother-in-law, Bobby O. Hoffman.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Barr will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Wayne Dickson and Rev. Andy Byers.  Burial will follow at New Cut Presbyterian Church cemetery.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to New Cut Presbyterian Church, Building Fund, 2617 New Cut Church Rd., Lancaster, SC 29720.
