IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donna
Harmon
February 15, 1944 – October 5, 2024
Indian Land, South Carolina ~ Donna J. Harmon passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2024. Donna was born February 15, 1944, in Ironton, Missouri. She grew up in Sullivan, Missouri, and was united in marriage to John Harmon on October 9, 1964. The family grew while in Sullivan with the births of daughter, Pamela, and son, Michael.
Donna's life can best be encapsulated by five words: family, friends, flowers, food, and fun. In her 80 years with us, she experienced an abundance of each in a long life full of wonderful and varied experiences. Through it all, Donna maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, and love of friends and family, especially her grandkids.
John's career took them to many locations, including Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, and Alaska. After John's retirement, they settled in Lake Wylie, South Carolina, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. After her husband John's passing, Donna moved to Sun City Carolina Lakes, where she made numerous new friends. She enjoyed making cards, joining her weekly dinner group, and playing Canasta with her neighborhood friends.
Donna loved to travel throughout the United States and sample the food wherever she went. She and John loved to visit Hawaii and vacationed there several times, as it was a special place for them. Her travels also took her to Mexico, Canada, England, and on a Mediterranean cruise. She enjoyed going on cruises, especially throughout the Caribbean. Wherever she traveled, she loved to experience the cultures and, of course, the food. Donna's fun-loving spirit and quick wit will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Donna's family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing.
She is survived by her children, Pamela Wingard and Michael Harmon, his wife Jane; her grandsons, Matthew Wingard, Jonathan (Jack) Wingard, and Brady Harmon; her sister, Georgia Jordan and husband George; sisters-in-law, Susie Hahn, Debbie Durham, and Joyce Snyder; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John; son-in-law, Joe Wingard; brothers, Bob Hahn and Gary Durham; and parents, Lois Webb and Don Hahn.
A celebration of Donna's life, officiated by Reverend David M. Bender, will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church, 7520 Charlotte Highway, Indian Land, SC, on Friday, October 11, at 11 am.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
