LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mr. Donald Louis Starnes, age 80, died Sunday, June 7, 2015 at White Oak Manor. He was born July 23, 1934 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Johnnie William Starnes and Gracie Dell Brown Starnes and was the husband of the late Kathryn Cauthen Starnes. Mr. Starnes retired from Springs Industries - Grace Bleachery and served our great country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a teacher of many lessons. He was an avid fisherman and a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he served on many committee boards.

Mr. Starnes is survived by three sons, Barry Starnes, Robert Dale Starnes and his wife Donna and Jeffery Alan Starnes and his wife Anna all of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Jessica Nicole Starnes, Dalton Alan Starnes and his wife Katie, Heather Starnes Moore and her husband Ricky and Joshua Ryan Starnes; a sister, Alice Starnes Miller and her husband Jan of Mt. Pleasant; and a brother in law, Fred Sinclair of Lancaster.

Mr. Starnes was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Starnes Sinclair and a brother, Luther Starnes.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Starnes will be 11:00 am, Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Grace United Methodist Church by Rev. Brian Humphries. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The Family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday evening, June 10, 2015 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster and other times at Mr. Donald Starnes' home. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Lancaster County Relay for Life, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
