LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Donald Ray Brazzell, age 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on September 6, 1933, in Heath Springs, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Robert James Brazzell and the late Faye Lee Ghent Brazzell.

Mr. Brazzell proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, honoring his nation with dedication and distinction. He was a faithful member of Liberty Freewill Baptist Church, a place that held a special and cherished place in his heart. His faith was an important part of who he was, and he carried that faith with him in the way he lived and in the way he treated others. Mr. Brazzell had a genuine heart for people and was known for his kindness, dependability, and willingness to care for those around him. His church family and the many friends he made throughout his life were deeply meaningful to him.

A hardworking man who enjoyed staying busy, Mr. Brazzell found great pleasure in working with his hands. He loved woodworking and took pride in the things he could create and repair. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and working on lawnmowers. Whether he was tending to his garden, spending time outdoors, or working away in his shop, he was happiest when he had something to do and a way to lend a helping hand.

While he enjoyed many hobbies and interests throughout his life, it was the people he loved and the relationships he built that meant the most to him. He will be remembered not only for his strong faith and love for his church, but for the kindness he showed to others and the lasting impression he left on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Mr. Brazzell leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory in their hearts: his son, Robert Michael “Mike” Brazzell (Jeannie); two daughters, Donna Penegar (Bobby, Jr.) and Crystal Brazzell; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two wives, Ruby Roach Brazzell and Carolyn English Brazzell; his son, Donald R. Brazzell, Jr.; a grandson, Eric Dunlap; a stepson, Timothy Carnes; a stepdaughter, Kathy Adams; and four sisters, Margaret Brazzell, Nancy Hunter, Elizabeth Walters, and Evelyn Crenshaw.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Brazzell will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Liberty Freewill Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Tim Larrimore. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2026, in the church sanctuary, one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Agape Hospice, 404 W. Meeting Street, Lancaster, SC 29720.
