Waxhaw, NC ~ Ms. Linda Dianne Hawfield, age 81, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026. She was born on January 16, 1945, in Asheville, NC, a daughter of the late William Dowd Hawfield and the late Lois Patterson Hawfield.

Dianne was a loving aunt to her niece and her nieces children, and a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her. She had a generous heart and a special way of making others feel cared for and loved.

Dianne’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured every moment spent with the people she loved and was always there to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement, or simply share a warm conversation. Her kindness extended far beyond her family, as she was always willing to help others whenever she could. longtime neighbors and special cousins were very important to her. She treasured all of those relationships and the community that they shared.

Dianne had a deep and lifelong love for animals. She adored all creatures, big and small, and had a particular soft spot for cats. She often rescued cats in need, giving them the love, comfort, and safe home they deserved. Her compassion for animals was a beautiful reflection of the caring heart she carried throughout her life.

She also found great happiness in bird watching, taking delight in observing the beauty and wonder of nature. In the kitchen, Dianne showed her love through baking and cooking, creating delicious meals and treats to share with family and friends. For her, food was more than something to prepare, it was another way of bringing people together and making them feel at home.

In her younger years, Dianne worked as a hair stylist, where she formed meaningful and lasting relationships with her clients. She cared about the people who sat in her chair, and many became more than clients; they became friends. Later in life, Dianne worked at Providence Animal Hospital, where she found great joy in meeting new clients and their beloved fur babies. Her genuine love for animals and warm, caring nature made this work especially meaningful to her. Her warm personality and genuine interest in others made her someone people looked forward to seeing.

Dianne is survived by her niece Inga Kish (Larry), her great nephews Hayden Kish (Rachael), and Connor Kish, her great niece Lydia Kish and her great-great niece Avery Elizabeth Kish.

Dianne is predeceased by her parents William and Lois Hawfield, and her brother William Karl Hawfield and his wife Carolyn Hawfield.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Dianne will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 02, 2026, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home in Lancaster, SC. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, on Friday, October 02, 2026, at Burgess Funeral Home.
