LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Dennis Ray Melton, age 68, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021.  He was born January 4, 1953, in Monroe NC, the son of the late Hurley G. Melton and Ruby Smith Melton.  Dennis was the husband of Cynthia Reynolds Melton.  He spent many years as Site Constructor for Youth Build and a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity.  Dennis was a firework fanatic, speed demon, enjoyed NASCAR, drag racing, fishing and loving on his fur babies, Rusty and Lizzie.  Dennis was a great carpenter and an amazing cook.  He loved cooking on the grill.  Dennis was a member of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cynthia Melton; a daughter, Shannon Melton of Mooresville, NC; two grandchildren, Eleanor Melton and Lydia Melton; a brother, Larry Melton and his wife, Ann of Monroe, NC; two nephews, Jeremy Morris and his wife, Amber, and Chris Melton and his wife, Crystal; two nieces, Rachel Morris, and Karen Widenhouse and her husband, Mick; several great nieces and nephew; and special friends, Robby and Nancy Whitaker.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his parents-in-law, Ollie and Alice Reynolds.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Dennis will be 11:00 am Friday, September 17, 2021, at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, 133 S. Potter Rd., Lancaster, SC officiated by Dr. Jessie Adams. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a m, one hour prior to the service, at the church.
