LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Diedre "Dee Dee" Ellen Lowe Mahaffey, age 68, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021, at MUSC- Lancaster.  She was born June 6, 1953, in Chester, SC, a daughter of the late Broadus Allen Lowe and Jessie Catoe Lowe and was the loving wife of Jeff Mahaffey. Dee Dee loved flowers, sewing cloth and leather, and reading historical novels.  Family and friends will remember her as kind, generous, loving, and caring person who loved everyone and everyone loved her.  In recent years, she joyfully assisted in the caregiving of her mother-in-law, whom she loved dearly.  Her most important role was being help mate to her husband, Jeff.  She loved helping him with their family farm and she was always right by his side.  Dee Dee had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great storyteller.  Family was so important to her, and she loved them dearly; especially, her grandchildren.  She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Dee Dee is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jeff Mahaffey; her daughter, Rachel Catledge; three grandchildren, Logan Stone Catledge (Melissa), Alex Catledge, and Lily Lanier; her sister, Amelia Williams; a nephew, Warren Duncan; parents-in-law, Ralph and Eva Ann Mahaffey; a brother-in-law, Steve Mahaffey; a sister-in-law, Deann Eckhart (Mark), and their children, Michael and Madeline; and numerous beloved cousins.

Dee Dee was preceded in death by her parents.

The Celebration of Life Service for Dee Dee will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Della Hunsucker.  Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
