LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Deborah “Debbie” Ann Moore Blackmon, age 78, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026, at her home, with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 7, 1948, in Lancaster, SC, to the late Herman Moore and the late Eva Small Moore McCoy and was the loving wife of the late William Douglas “Doug” Blackmon.
Mrs. Blackmon was the very definition of kindness, generosity, and compassion, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her family was the greatest joy of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with those she loved. Mrs. Blackmon also treasured the friendships she made throughout her life, and her loyal and caring spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She never met a stranger, welcoming others with an open heart and making everyone feel like family. Known for her honesty and straightforward nature, she would always "tell it like it is," offering wisdom with love and sincerity. Mrs. Blackmon had a servant's heart and found great joy in caring for others. If she could have, she would have fed the world, as sharing a meal and making sure no one went without was simply part of who she was.
Mrs. Blackmon’s kindness, strength, and unconditional love touched countless lives, and the memories she created will be treasured forever. Her legacy of love, generosity, and selflessness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Her legacy of love lives on through her daughter, Tara Blackmon (Eddie Hayes); her son, Brent Blackmon (Kimberly Powers); her grandchildren, Krista Larrimore (Blake), Blade Blackmon (Megan), Gavin Blackmon, Landon Blackmon, Haven Chavis, and Vada Blackmon; her great-grandchildren, Jaylin Larrimore, Hunter Larrimore, and Elsie Blackmon; her brother, William “Butch” Moore (Jerry); and many special family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Blackmon; her parents, Herman Moore and Eva Moore McCoy; her stepfather who raised her, Melvin Ray McCoy; and her two brothers, Michael Moore, and Jimmy Dwayne Moore.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Blackmon will be 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00pm, one hour prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home.
