LANCASTER, SC::::::::: Mr. David B. Helms, age 61, of 259 Hagins Road, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at his home. He was born February 14, 1949 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Lee Noah Helms and Ruby Mae Manus Helms and was the husband of Gayle Bailey Helms. Mr. Helms retired from Springs Global - Grace Finishing, was an avid outdoorsman and a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Mr. Helms is survived by his wife, Gayle B. Helms of the home, a daughter, Liz H. Payne and her husband Reggie of Lancaster, a granddaughter, Summer Payne, 3 sisters, Dorothy Jean Faulkenberry and her husband William "Bill", Linda Joyce Morris, and Wanda H. McCaskill and her husband Hugh and a sister-in-law, Helen R. Helms all of Lancaster, and several nieces and nephews.Mr. Helms was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Thomas Helms and Franklin Andrew Helms and a sister, Shirley H. Hunter. The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Helms will be 11:00 am Friday, December 31, 2010 at St. Luke United Methodist Church by Rev. Kyle Randall. Burial is private. The Family of Mr. Helms will receive friends immediately following the service in the Leisure Ministry Center and the family suggests memorials be sent to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 128 Providence Road, Lancaster, SC 29720 or Hospice of SC, 412 N. White Street, Lancaster, SC 29720.
