FORT MILL, SC ~ Darryl William Garrett, age 85, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021.  Darryl was born June 6, 1935 in Rapid City, SD.  He was the son of the late Rudolph Everett Garrett and Emma Peterson Garrett and was the husband of Barbara Lucille Schurr Garrett.  Darryl proudly served his country in the United States Navy for over 20 years where he was honored with several medals including: Good Conduct, National Defense Service, Korean Service, China Service, United Nations Service, and Naval Reserve.  After retiring from the Navy, Darryl was employed with the Department of Defense for over 20 years.  Darryl enjoyed golfing, gardening, and yard work.  He loved his family and his cat, Mia.

Darryl is survived by his wife, Barbara Garrett, two sons, Mark Garrett (Jennifer) and Scott Garrett; his daughter, Pamela Garrett Body; and two grandchildren, Emily Garrett and Anna Garrett.

Darryl was preceded in death by his parents; and his son-in-law, Stephen Body.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Darryl will be 11:00 am Friday, March 26, 2021 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Larry Helm.  Burial will take place later at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.  Social distancing will be practiced, and mask are required.
