LANCASTER, SC:::::::::: Mr. Darrell Phillip Bell, age 78, died Wednesday, October 19, 2016. He was born November 20, 1937 in Lancaster County, a son of the late William Phillip Bell and Gladys Mize Bell Lowery and is the husband of Peggy Bailey Bell. Mr. Bell retired from P & G/Weyerhaeuser. He served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and served as a DJ for the Armed Services Network. He loved old movies and Westerns, especially 007 and John Wayne movies. He earned his pilots license when he was younger. He enjoyed flying and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Bell is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Peggy Bailey Bell; two daughters, Cheryl Cash Wiggins and Paula Hinson and her husband David, both of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Robert William Chase, Brett Hinson and wife Mary and Jonathan Hinson and wife Lacy; and three great grandchildren, Bryce, Riley and Autumn Hinson.
Mr. Bell was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Bell.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Bell will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 22, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church by Rev. Edgar McCall.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 1:00-2:00 pm, at the church and suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 990, Lancaster, SC 29721.
