LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mr. Danny Ray Deese, age 60, died Monday, January 12, 2015. He was born January 27, 1954 in Lancaster, the son of the late Zeb Deese and Josephine Almond Deese and was the husband of Lucille Lowery Deese. Mr. Deese was employed with Haile Gold Mine as a Heavy Equipment Supervisor. He served as a volunteer fireman with Buford Volunteer Fire Department for more than 20 years and retired as Assistant Chief. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gunsmith. Mr. Deese was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church of Pageland where he served as former Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School teacher.
Mr. Deese is survived by his wife, Lucille Lowery Deese, a son, Danny Wayne "Buck" Deese and his wife Lori, three daughters, Cathy McDaniel and her husband Justin, Lora Macy and her husband Shawn, and Amanda Mahaffey and her husband Daniel, all of Lancaster, a brother, Larry Randall Deese, a sister, Linda Deese Helms both of Lancaster, six grandchildren, Kayla Vaughn and her husband Tyler, Darren Macy and his fiancé, Ashlyn Estridge, Cody Boone, Trey Macy, Billie Grace Deese and Joseph Mahaffey, and two great grandchildren, Hunter and Fisher Vaughn.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Deese will be 3:00 pm, Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Monroe, NC by Rev. Mack Mullis and Rev. Jimmy Gregory. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Wednesday evening, January 14, 2015 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster and other times at the home of his son, Danny Deese. The family suggests memorials be made to the Lancaster Fire Safety Fund, 401 E. Arch Street, Lancaster, SC 29720.
