HEATH SPRINGS, SC ~ Mr. Dale Carson Horne, age 78, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born, August 3, 1939, a son of the late Wesley C. Horne and Birtie Latzak Horne and the husband of Ruth Couick Horne. Mr. Horne loved his tractors, reading and watching westerns, gospel music and telling jokes. He enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren and loved eating ice cream and drinking milkshakes. Mr. Horne was a member of Flint Ridge Baptist Church.

Mr. Horne is survived by his wife, Ruth Couick Horne; a son, Erik C. Horne; two daughters, Kimberly Horne Hicks and Marla Horne Coates and her husband, Tracy; four grandchildren, Patricia Dawn Hicks, Makenzie Lee Hicks, Logan Danielle Coates and Carson Edward Coates; a brother, Hoyle Horne and his wife, Shelby; a sister, Gladys Armstrong; and a sister-in-law, Frankie Ann Horne.

Mr. Horne was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Patrick Pat Hicks; three brothers, Cletus Horne, Jerome Horne and Lavoyd Bill Horne; and two sisters, Geraldine Carnes and Nathera Robinson.

A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Horne will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 7, 2017 by Rev. Kelvin Hinson at Flint Ridge Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Flint Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 pm Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Burgess Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorials be made to Founders Federal Credit Union, Attn: Jessica, Lung Cancer Fund for Ruth Horne, 737 Plantation Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
