LANCASTER, SC ~ Corporal Nelson Edward Wright, age 71, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Atrium Health Union.  He was born July 28, 1950, in Lancaster, SC, a son of the late Millon Tommy Wright and Elizabeth Moree Wright and was the husband of Pam Rape Wright.  Corporal Wright proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps where he received a Purple Heart and Navy Achievement Medal. Corporal Wright served in the Vietnam War.  He enjoyed fishing, going to the mountains, and the South Carolina Gamecocks.  Corporal Wright was a simple and humble man, who loved sitting on his porch just "soaking it all in".  He loved his family; especially his wife who he lovingly called his "baby doll", his "boys", and his eight grandchildren.

Corporal Wright is survived by his wife of 49 years, Pam Wright; four sons, Kip Wright (Allison), Jamie Wright (Kisha), Jeremy Wright (Nicole), and Kelan Wright; and eight grandchildren, Ali, Austin, Mason, Karson, Kade, Klayton, Kennedy, and Evan.

Corporal Wright was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Elizabeth Wright; two grandchildren, Kayden Wright, and Jamison Wright; and a sister, Evelyn Gheant.

The Celebration of Life Service for Corporal Wright will be 11:00 am Friday, October 8, 2021, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Brad Threatt. Mask are required and social distancing will be practiced.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday October 7, 2021 at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), 9332 Whistling Straits Drive, Indian Land, SC 29707.
