LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Clyde Thomas Steele, age 81, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at his home.  He was born May 25, 1939 in Lancaster, a son of the late Tom Pickett Steele and Louise Cunningham Steele and was the husband of Imogene Wilson Steele.  Mr. Steele retired from Bowater Corporation after 42 years of service.  He loved the outdoors, working on tractors, going to tractor shows, gardening and farming.  He dearly loved his family, his children and grandchildren and wanted them to grow up to be responsible people. He had many dear friends that he loved and always enjoyed helping others.  He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.

Mr. Steele was survived by his wife of 62 years, Imogene Steele; two sons, Tom Steele (Julie) of Stuart, VA and Joe Steele (Bobbi) of Lancaster; a brother, Johnny Steele of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Courtney Steele, Bailey Steele, Joe Steele, Jr. and Harper Steele and one great grandchild, Jayden Steele.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Steele will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Hopewell United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Candice Sloan and Mr. Carlyle Steele. Masks are required for the service and we ask everyone to practice social distancing.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the Family Life Center.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church, 3734 Heyward Hough Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
