LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Clyde Richard Brazell, 96, of Lancaster, SC passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, after a brief illness.
Born on December 10, 1929, in Lancaster, Clyde was the son of the late Wylie Jessie Brazell, Sr. and Alice White Brazell. He retired from Springs Industries, Lancaster Plant, after many years of service.
Clyde loved God and enjoyed attending church and church events whenever he could. He was also an avid Clemson Tigers fan who proudly cheered on his team. Above all, family was the most important part of his life. He treasured the time spent with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. His love for his family and the memories they shared will forever remain in their hearts.
Clyde was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emily Williams Brazell, with whom he shared 76 wonderful years of marriage. Though his family mourns his passing, they find comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his bride in his eternal home.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Criminger (Charlie); his son, Mike Brazell (Susan); three grandchildren, Crystal Carter (Scott), Jennifer Bumgardner (Jamie), and Jonathan Ormand (August); nine great-grandchildren, Jason Dobbins (Caroline), Matt Carter (Sarah), Grayson Ormand, Landon Carter, Gibson Bumgardner, Olivia Bumgardner, Emily Bumgardner, Holden Ormand, and Rhian Ormand; one great-great-grandchild, Natalie Carter, with another great-great-grandchild on the way; and two brothers, Johnny Childers (Cheryl) and Gene Childers.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Clyde was preceded in death by two brothers, Rev. Tommy Brazell and Wylie J. Brazell, Jr.; and four sisters, Mary Ann Baker, Bernice Vaughn, Faye Vaughn, and Katherine “Sissy” Monroe.
The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to Missy Robinson for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion she provided Clyde during his final week.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Burgess Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, with a graveside service immediately following at Lancaster Memorial Park.
