LANCASTER, SC :::::::::: Mr. Clyburn Odell "Bud" Horton, Sr. age 90, died Thursday, July 2, 2009 at his home. He was born July 8, 1918 in Lancaster County, the son of the late John Roachel Horton and Lilly Lucas Horton. Mr. Horton was twice married first to the late Mary Howard Horton and secondly to the late Clyda Gardner Horton. Mr. Horton retired from Springs Industries, was a Mason with Jackson Lodge, a Shriner with Hejaz Temple, a member of Second Baptist Church, and served our great country in the United States Navy during World War II.Mr. Horton was survived by his son, C.O. "Buddy" Horton, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Lancaster, 3 daughters, JoAnn H. Reynolds both of Lancaster, Mary Sue H. Bell and her husband Andrew of Heath Springs, and Diana B. Smith and her husband Glenn of Great Falls, a brother Coleman Horton and his wife Ginny of Lancaster, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.Mr. Horton was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Hade, Jay, Ed, Pete and Clyde Horton and 3 sisters, Pearl Ellis, Eula Walters, and Elsie Workman.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Horton will be 2:00 pm, Monday, July 6, 2009 at Second Baptist Church by Dr. Brian Saxon and Rev. Gerald Eaves. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mr. Horton will receive friends from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Hwy, Lancaster and suggests memorials be made to Second Baptist Church, Imagine the Impact Fund, 1426 Great Falls Hwy., Lancaster SC 29720.The Family of Mr. Horton will be at the home of his daughter, JoAnne Reynolds, 2311 Hough Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
