LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Clifford "Gene" Eugene Snipes, age 72, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025. He was born January 23, 1953, in Lancaster, SC, the son of the late Clifford Dewey Snipes and the late Robbie Ghent Snipes. Gene was an avid collector with a love for firearms and antiques. He especially enjoyed westerns and spending time on his property. He was reunited in rest with his beloved dogs, Sadie and Sophie. Above all, Gene cherished his family. His deep respect and love for his country was reflected in his 30 years of service as a Sergeant First Class in the United States Army and the Army National Guard, with his final assignment at the South Carolina National Guard Armory, in Lancaster, South Carolina.

He is survived by his daughter, Angie Snipes Fulmer (Tommy); his son, Greg Snipes; his five grandchildren, Kelsey Short (Dylan), Jacob Barton (Lauren), Tamara Barton, Dylan Fulmer (Braxton), Donovan Snipes (Melissa), and Alexis Snipes; his five great-grandchildren, Rylan, Canaan Grace, Gatlan, Emmy, and Ivy; and his brother, Jimmy Dewey Snipes (Kathy).

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Dewey Snipes and Robbie Ghent.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Gene will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Burgess Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service.
