LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Claude Sims, Sr., age 85, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023. He was born August 17, 1937, in Lancaster, a son of the late William "Bill" Sims and the late Mattie Love Sims and was the husband of the late Betty Mae Christmas Sims. Mr. Sims loved Gene Autry, NASCAR racing, especially Dale Earnhardt, and watching The Price is Right. He enjoyed drawing, animals, and keeping cars clean. He loved it when family members got new cars that he could clean. Mr. Sims was a Man of God who loved his family dearly. He was such loving man who always had a smile on his face.

Mr. Sims is survived by his four children, Claude Sims, Jr. (Katrina) of Belmont, NC, Gail Galloway (George) of Lancaster, Janie Adams (Donnie) of Lancaster, and Janet Outen (Rusty) of Kershaw; nine grandchildren, Tammy Galloway Thomas, Brandon Galloway, Kimberly Galloway Hudson, Randall Powers, Trent Sims, Tyler Sims, Amanda Horton, Russell Outen, and Amy Outen; ten great grandchildren; his brother, Nathan Sims; and his two sisters, Betty Cauthen, and Jean Wright.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sims; his son, Randy Sims; his grandson, Travis Powers; his parents, Bill and Mattie Sims; and his three brothers, Homer Sims, Billy Sims, and Aaron Sims.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Sims will be 2:00 pm Sunday, June 4, 2023, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Gerald Moss. Entombment will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to White Springs Baptist Church, 1249 Grace Ave, Lancaster, SC 29720 or to a charity of your choice.
