LIBERTY HILL, SC::::::::::::: Mrs. Clara Payne Stroud, age 74, died Tuesday morning, December 9, 2008 at Providence Hospital. She was born April 25, 1933 in Kershaw County, the daughter of the late Hubert Elmore Payne and Ella Lucas Payne and was the wife of the late James Edward Stroud. Mrs. Stroud retired from Springs Industries and was an active member of White Bluff Baptist Church where she sang in the Choir and was involved with Mission Friends. Mrs. Stroud was survived by 2 sons, John Stroud and his wife Karen and Myron Stroud and his wife both of Lancaster, 3 brothers, John Thomas Payne and Truman "Bo Peep" Payne both of Kershaw, and Nelson Payne of Liberty Hill, a sister, Betty P. Deese of Kershaw and 7 grandchildren, Jeremy, Brad, Adam, Jake, Sean, Kaleb, and Kalyn Stroud. Mrs. Stroud was preceded in death by a son, Byron S. Stroud, 2 brothers, Bill "JB" Payne and Willie Elmore Payne, and 4 sisters, Mabel P. Coates, Jacqueline Payne, Emma Sue Payne, and Annie Grace Payne.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Stroud will be 3:00 pm Friday, December 12, 2008 at White Bluff Baptist Church by Rev. Doug Humphries and Rev. Todd Robinson with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Family of Mrs. Stroud will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to White Bluff Baptist Church, 3125 Duckwood Road, Kershaw, SC 29067.The Family of Mrs. Stroud will be at the home of her son, John Stroud, 2764 Pineview Drive, Lancaster SC 29720.
