LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Charles "Charlie" William Meakin, age 95, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022. He was born August 12, 1927, in Oneida, NY, son of the late Charles Luther Meakin and Edith Allmon Meakin. Mr. Meakin proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He learned to pilot in 1951 and enjoyed flying, had his private pilot license, and owned his own plane. Mr. Meakin also enjoyed racing (dirt track and drag), and NASCAR (member when it first started). He lived in Delaware for over 40 years. His German Shepherd, Baron, was his best friend and he loved him dearly.

Mr. Meakin is survived by his niece, Becky Boyles; nephew, Neil Carlon; great niece, Melissa Carlon; cousin, Charlie Meakin; and close friends, Randy Sparks, Alice Watson, and Derek Watson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Jane Carlon.

Burial will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
