HEATH SPRINGS, SC – Mr. Charles “Charlie” West Catoe, age 80, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026. He was born October 9, 1945, in Camden, SC, he was the son of the late Keever Benjamin Catoe and the late Irene Margaret Faulkenberry Catoe.

He was the devoted husband of Judy Ann Couch Catoe, with whom he shared 60 wonderful years of marriage.

Mr. Charlie was a proud and deeply patriotic man who dedicated more than 30 years of his life to serving his country. Over the course of his distinguished military career, he served in the Air Force, the Army, and the Army National Guard. A Vietnam War veteran, he carried his commitment to service and love of our country with him throughout his life.

Beyond his military service, Mr. Charlie found joy in the simple pleasures that made life meaningful. He was a devoted fan of the Carolina Gamecocks, loved trips to the beach, and never passed up an opportunity to enjoy a good meal at Cracker Barrel. His faith was a cornerstone of his life; he was a devoted Christian who read his Bible daily.

Mr. Charlie cherished his family above all else. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, creating memories they will carry with them always. He also held a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Chloe “Cori.”

In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball and bowling, and he had a lifelong love of sports of all kinds. He will be remembered for his dedication, his faith, and the love he shared with those around him.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Catoe; his three children, Tim Catoe (Suzanne), Missy Cairnes (Ronnie), and Jodi Williams (Dennis); eight grandchildren, Julius Catoe (Nicole), Brianna Williams, Alyssa Cairnes, Tyler Williams (Lindsay), MaKayla Bailey (Greyson), Abbey Williams (Fiancé, Waylon Rutledge), Brad Stroud (Lindsay), and Sean Stroud (Bre); six great-grandchildren, Emelynn, Asher, Hadlee, Hudson, Nolan, and Raelyn; two sisters, Marguerite Adams, and Joycie Faye Brazzell; and many special nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Ansley Rae Stroud; his parents; and his siblings, Eugene Catoe, A.W. Catoe, Dewey Catoe, Carroll Catoe, Lonnie Catoe, and Betty Ann Phillips.

The Celebration of Life Service for Charlie will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Bryan Scott Starnes. The family will receive friends following the service. Private family burial to follow.
