ROCK HILL, SC :::::::: Mr. Charles Melvin Suttles, Sr., age 95, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Piedmont Medical Center. He was born December 1, 1918 in East Moline, IL the son of the late Lloyd Suttles, Sr. and Elizabeth Matthiessen Suttles and was the husband of the late Ruth A. Suttles. Mr. Suttles retired from the US Postal Service, served our great country in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC.

Mr. Suttles is survived by a son, Charles M. "Chuck" Suttles, Jr. and his wife Mary of Fort Mill, 2 daughters, Diane Burke and her husband Larry of Oceanside, CA and Jo Ann Cervantes and her husband Michael of Cedar Rapids, IA, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Mr. Suttles was preceded by his wife and a grandson.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Suttles will be 10:30 am, Monday, December 9, 2013 at Chandler Place by Pastor Talbot Davis and Mr. Dennis Sult. Burial with Military Rites will follow at 12 noon at Belair United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The Family of Mr. Suttles will receive friends immediately following the service and in lieu of flowers suggest memorials be made to Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 13110 Moss Road, Charlotte, NC 28273.
