LANCASTER, SC.On Friday, June 3, at 5:12am, Charles W. McManus made his triumphant entry into heaven. Charles was born August 7, 1921 to the late Robert Bunyan and Albany McNeely McManus and was the husband of the late Lois Miller McManus.
Mr. Charles served our country in the U.S. Army Infantry during W.W. II in the Philippines and was Mess Sergeant in Okinawa and Korea. He retired from Springs Industries and enjoyed working at Harris Teeter as a grocery bagger after he retired from Springs Industries. Mr. Charles was an avid gardener and a great cook. He loved the Lord, his family and his church. He was a lifelong member of Spring Hill Baptist Church where he served as Treasurer, Deacon and for several years drove the church bus.
Mr. Charles is survived by his daughter, Charlene McManus Means and her husband Hugh of Greenville, SC; a granddaughter, Stephanie Michelle Brock and her husband Darren; two great grandchildren, Kinsley Rose and Konner Todd Brock of Easley, SC; two sisters, Lottie Moon Sutton of Pageland, SC and Annie Blanche Smith of Hartsville, SC.
Mr. Charles was preceded in death by seven brothers, Bunyan Creth McManus, Dwight McNeely McManus, Royce Barkley McManus, George Thomas (GT) McManus, Keith Sims McManus, Cecil Lance McManus and Robert Seth McManus; and four sisters, Hessie Julia McManus, Betty Eloise Clonts, Mary Lee Rogers and Agnes Louise Liles.
The Service of Thanksgiving to God for the Life of Charles W. McManus will be held at Monday, June 6, 2016 at 2:00 pm at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC. Burial will follow at Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the burial at the Springhill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to either St. Giles Presbyterian Church Music Department, 1021 Hudson Road, Greenville, SC 29615 (please indicate Memorial for Charles W.
