Mr. Charles Moore "Mighty Fine" Davis, age 80, died Friday evening at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born April 9, 1932 in Gaston County, NC, the son of the late Ray Davis and Margaret Moore Davis and was the husband of Emmie Medlin Davis. Mr. Davis retired from Duke Power after 30 years of service as a welder, an Eagle Scout and served our great country in the US Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Davis was a member of Kershaw Church of God and has been very instrumental in the God Can Building Fund for the future construction of the church. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife Emmie Medlin Davis of the home, 2 daughters, Becky G. Sims and husband Dino of Kershaw and Susan G. Newton of Lancaster, a sister, Martha Ray Davis Tadlock and husband Doug of Stanley, NC, 3 grandchildren, Rev Josh Sims, Jessica Sims Nolan and husband Rev. Neal Nolan,and Tyler Newton, and a great grandchild, Aiden Nolan. The Celebration of a "Mighty Fine Life" for Mr. Davis will be 2:00 pm Monday June 4 2012 at The Chapel of Hartley Funeral Home by Rev. Josh Sims and Rev. Neal Nolan. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mr. Davis will receive friends one hour before the service 1: 00 -2:00 pm.,and in lieu of flowers suggests memorials to Kershaw Church of God, " God Can" Building Fund 140 Pine Ridge Drive, Kershaw, S.C.
