LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Charles "Dimp" Edward Snipes, Sr., age 88, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025. He was born November 11, 1936, a son of the late Ernest Melvin Snipes and the late Ethel Williams Snipes and was the loving husband of Jackie Deaton Snipes. Dimp retired as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He loved wood working and made several things for all his family, especially each grandchild. Dimp loved watching westerns, playing golf, and watching his grandchildren play ball. He was an avid Gamecock fan and loved all Gamecock sports. Family was most important to him, and he loved them all dearly. It was always important that he have banana popsicles available to give to his great grandchildren when they came over and they always looked forward to having them. Dimp was a member of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church.
Dimp is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jackie Snipes; his children, Susie Nichols (Dennis), Chuck Snipes, Billy Snipes (Sharon), and Laurie Carter; six grandchildren, Matthew Nichols (Jordan), Sarah Gennie (Rickele), Haley Steele (Sam), Mackenzie Thompson (Drew), Grayson Snipes (Elizabeth), and Kelsey Carnes (Brayden); twelve great grandchildren, Easton, Emma Grace, Jackson, Noah, Deaton, Harrison, Hadley, Bennett, Briggs, Caden, Bowen, Millie Kate and #13 is on the way; brother, Donnie M. Snipes (Robbie); sister, JoAnn Snipes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ethel Snipes; and brothers, Melvin "Pete" Snipes, Carl Landon Snipes, and Jimmy Snipes.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Dimp will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, August 10, 2025, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Mr. Dennis Nichols.
The family will receive friends following the service until 6:00 pm at Burgess Funeral Home.
