LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Charles J. Dixon, age 82, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018. He was born November 26, 1935 in Lancaster and was the husband of the late Margaret Catoe Dixon. Mr. Dixon retired from Springs Industries-Lancaster Plant and served our country in the United States Army. After retiring, he worked as a courier for Founders Federal Credit Union, a job he loved. He served as a volunteer with the Springs Hospital Auxiliary and the Lancaster Council on Aging. Mr. Dixon was a devoted member of Sherwood Baptist Church where he had served as Music Director, Mens Softball Coach and Sunday School teacher. He was an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan.

Mr. Dixon is survived by a daughter, Donna D. Miller and her husband, Marty of Lancaster; two stepsons, Jerry Flynn and his wife, Patricia of Liberty Hill and Phil Flynn and his wife, Elaine of Lancaster; two grandchildren, Crystal Miller Webb and Seth Miller and his wife, Jessica; four great grandchildren, Landon Miller, Hayden Webb, Hallie Webb and Holton Webb; and a brother, Jack Dixon and his wife, Edna of Knoxville, TN.

Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his mother, Cora Dixon; his wife, Margaret Dixon; two brothers, Howard Dixon and Walter Dixon; and a sister, Mattie Wright.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Dixon will be 2:00 pm Friday, May 4, 2018 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Rusty McAllister. The graveside service will be 11:00 am Friday at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends following the Chapel service at the funeral home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Sherwood Baptist Church, PO Box 813, Lancaster, SC 29721; Second Baptist Church, 1426 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720; or Regency Hospice, 250 Piedmont Boulevard, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
